United Land Services is Hiring a Crew Leader - Landscape Installation Near Springs, FL

Description

This position is responsible for crew oversite and ensuring tasks are completed appropriately. This role will be responsible for keeping accurate records, promoting job worksite safety, providing excellent customer service, and exhibits pride and quality workmanship. This position may be tiered based on years of experience and/or education based on management's discretion.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversees day-to-day site operations and delegation of work to crew members which may include the following beautification and property enhancements/assignments:

- Installing/planting trees, plants, shrubs, lighting, hardscape features.

- Digging

- Debris Removal

- Topsoil | Mulch | Gravel Work

- Sod Replacement

- Material Preparation and Transportation

  • Assists team members in the preparation, installation, and construction of landscaping materials.
  • Understands and meets production and maintenance schedule deadlines without sacrificing great customer service or excellent quality.
  • Drives company vehicle along with other crew members to job sites.
  • Completes pre-trip inspections/walk-arounds as required to ensure vehicles and trailers are in safe operating form – including the proper securing of transported tools/materials/debris to and from job sites in work vehicles and/or trailers.
  • Ensures company vehicles remain clean and in working order, including proper preventative maintenance is performed – i.e., oil changes, proper tire inflation, reporting warning lights, etc.
  • Skillfully and safely uses power and manually operated tools or equipment to perform installation and maintenance projects.
  • Maintains and cares for company equipment, tools, and vehicles.
  • Maintain a clean job site, orderly and stocked equipment trailer.
  • Notify manager of equipment, labor and material needs to ensure efficient production.
  • Assists in the development and training of crew members.
  • Ensures accurate crew time logs.
  • Track materials and time on service work orders and submit daily to the department manager, according to current processes and procedures.
  • Interacts with clients and the public in a friendly and polite manner.
  • Reports client concerns to supervisor and assists in resolving.
  • Identifies and reports on potential cost savings and efficient ways to perform work.
  • This position typically directs the work of 2-5 team members.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures to include OSHA and Federal/State DOT requirements.
  • Wears and uses all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensures crew members perform their work safely and wears and uses all safety equipment as directed.
  • Responsible for completing all training classes and seminars, at management’s discretion.
  • Performs other duties and assists with other crews as assigned.

Requirements

High School Diploma and three years Landscaping experience required. A valid driver’s license with clean MVR and current auto insurance coverage also required. The degree requirement may be waived at the discretion of management with additional years of experience and/or training experience. Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to understand site material needs in relation to volume and duration required.
  • Ability to teach crew members on proper equipment usage.
  • Ability to work closely with manager, crew members, office staff and customers.
  • The ability to look out for other team members wellbeing and safety while working on a project.
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service internal and external customers and cross-functional departments.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to deal effectively with employees at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to represent the company’s best interest, maintain the highest level of integrity and professionalism -- always.
  • Ability to maintain a positive image as a representative of ULS’s employee base.
  • Ability to operate machinery as well as physically operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect and position materials.
  • Ability to adhere to uniform requirements -- to include long pants and work boots. Uniform shirts will be provided.

Work Environment | Physical Demands:

Position requires constant work outdoors in all types of weather conditions and exposure to elements. This can include heavy to moderate noise, extreme proximity to moving equipment or machinery, proximity to electrical energy, exposure to tools and machines used in construction. Physical demands require constantly exposure to extreme outdoor elements including, heat, sun, and pollen. The position constantly moves, walks, climbs, stoops, kneels, crouches, and crawls to complete assigned duties. Frequently operates machinery as well as physically operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect and position materials. Frequently required to stand and walk, lift and/or move up to 50 to over 100 lbs. with assistance. Ability to visually perceive depth and adjust focus.
