Recreation Aide

Part-time : 2 Shifts Available

Shift 1 : Tuesday & Friday 9am-5pm

Shift 2 : Wednesday, Thursday, & Alternating Sundays 1 : 30pm-5pm

About the part-time Recreation Aide position :

  • Assists Recreation Department staff with the implementation of activities and programs for Residents.
  • Works directly with residents by engaging them in a variety of recreational activities.
  • Follows the care plan in providing daily activities for residents.
  • Assists in monthly planning of the activity calendar, vendor liaison to schedule activities and directly performing activities with residents.
  • Keeps daily attendance and document resident's participation in activities.
  • Maintains daily logs of resident's weight, and toileting schedules for future needs assessment.
  • Communicates to departments regarding upcoming events timely.
  • Provides encouragement amongst staff, family, and community involvement.
  • Adheres to the Department of Health Regulations.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as directed by Director of Recreation.

Qualification & Experience

  • At least 1 year working with elderly residents / patients in recreation / activities.
  • Experience in a nursing home / long-term care environment with the elderly population preferred.
  • Possesses the ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Able to work one of the two available shifts.
  • Strong organizational, communication and computer skills required.
