Job Description:

  • United Health System is seeking a highly qualified RN Cardiac Cath Lab to join our dynamic team in Milford, MA. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the health and well-being of employees within various settings. Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab), you will play a vital role in providing patient care, assessment, and monitoring during cardiac catheterization procedures. You will collaborate with cardiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective delivery of care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment and Preparation:
    • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history review, vital sign monitoring, and pre-procedure education to prepare patients for cardiac catheterization procedures.
    • Obtain informed consent from patients, explaining the purpose, risks, benefits, and alternatives of the procedure in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Procedure Assistance:
    • Assist cardiologists and other healthcare providers during cardiac catheterization procedures, providing support with patient positioning, sterile draping, catheter insertion, and equipment setup.
    • Monitor patients' hemodynamic status, electrocardiogram (ECG) tracings, and vital signs throughout the procedure, promptly identifying and responding to any changes or complications.
  • Medication Administration:
    • Administer medications, sedatives, and analgesics as prescribed by the cardiologist, monitoring patients' responses and titrating doses to achieve desired effects while minimizing risks and side effects.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of medications administered, dosages, routes, and patient responses in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Post-Procedure Care:
    • Provide post-procedure care and monitoring for patients recovering from cardiac catheterization, assessing vital signs, monitoring puncture sites, and managing complications such as bleeding or arrhythmias.
    • Educate patients and their families on post-procedure instructions, including activity restrictions, wound care, medication management, and signs of potential complications.
  • Documentation and Charting:
    • Document all aspects of patient care, procedural details, assessment findings, interventions, and outcomes accurately and comprehensively in the electronic health record (EHR) or patient chart.
    • Ensure timely completion of procedural documentation, cath lab records, and regulatory compliance requirements, maintaining confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
  • Quality Assurance and Safety:
    • Adhere to cath lab protocols, procedural guidelines, and safety standards, including radiation safety practices, infection control measures, and sterile technique to minimize risks to patients and staff.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, data collection, and performance improvement projects to enhance patient outcomes, optimize workflow efficiency, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current unencumbered MA RN license required upon submission.
  • Healthcare Provider Level AHA BLS required.
