Job Information:
Job Title: Program Coordinator – Community Resilience Program
Job Type: Exempt, Grant funded for one year (Continuation of grant-funded position is contingent upon funding availability.)

Reports to: Director of Development & Strategic Initiatives
Job Location: San Diego, Riverside, Santa Maria, or Merced, CA
Schedule: Full-time - Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Hybrid (In office/remote)
Starting Salary: $66,560 - $75,000/year

Job Summary:
The Program Coordinator will be instrumental in organizing and supporting the transformation of UDW office buildings into community resilience centers, which will serve as vital hubs that provide resources and services to aid UDW members facing social and economic challenges. These centers aim to empower individuals and communities by offering assistance in various areas, such as healthcare, education, and advocacy, to address systemic injustices and enhance resilience. Additionally, the Program Coordinator will facilitate community engagement through town halls and workshops to gather input on UDW members, clients, and community stakeholders' preferences and needs for the centers. Through overseeing projects, managing recruitment efforts, fostering partnerships, and ensuring the implementation of effective strategies and plans, as well as facilitating communication and meetings, the Program Coordinator will be essential in the successful implementation and operation of the program to meet the needs of UDW members and the wider community.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the Community Resilience Program to ensure its effective implementation in alignment with organizational goals and community needs.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and deliverables to drive successful completion of program objectives within set deadlines.
  • Proactively monitor and evaluate project progress, promptly addressing any issues or concerns that may arise to maintain program efficacy and impact.
  • Serve as a central point of contact for communication between collaborative partners and the organization, fostering strong relationships and effective information flow.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with collaborative partners to strategically plan, design, and implement community workshops aimed at gathering valuable input, analyzing data, and developing actionable plans for community resilience centers.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop innovative strategies for recruiting members to participate in community workshops, ensuring broad community representation and engagement.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with partner organizations, establishing effective communication channels and exploring opportunities for local workforce development integration within community resilience initiatives.
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate program activities and outcomes to assess effectiveness and impact, utilizing data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to enhance community engagement and participation, preparing comprehensive reports on program performance for key stakeholders and presenting findings with actionable recommendations.
  • Analyze data and feedback to drive iterative improvements in resilience initiatives, staying adaptive to emerging trends and best practices in community resilience programming.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to program activities, providing leadership and guidance to staff and volunteers working at community resilience centers.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in community resilience, actively seeking professional growth and skill enhancement opportunities.
  • Assist with department projects and perform other duties as assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of work in this job classification.

Preferred Qualifications, Education, and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, Education, Social Sciences, Environmental or Climate Science, Nonprofit Administration.
  • 5 years of experience in program coordination and project management, preferably within the climate justice and/or workforce development sector.
  • Strong understanding of grant management, including grant writing, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficient in using project management tools and software.
  • Knowledge of best practices in program evaluation and data analysis.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively in problem-solving and decision-making processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
