SUMMARY

Daily management of end-to-end operations production team (pre-processing, pre-underwriting, processing, underwriting, and closing).

Responsible for direct management of the assigned leaders and operations staff to ensure the loans in the pipeline are processed, underwritten and closed in compliance with applicable regulations, UCMS policies and procedures, and client expectations.

Interpret and implement guidelines, train staff, and serve as an expert consultant to operations staff and sales as applicable.

Responsible for the overall loan experience from processing through closing / funding.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 8 years’ experience in mortgage operations working with conventional and government loan programs, secondary market investors, state housing agencies, and private mortgage insurers.
  • Minimum 5 years’ mortgage lending management experience leading processing, underwriting, or closing functions with proven project management and leadership qualities.
  • Mortgage Underwriting management experience required (mortgage credit underwriting background required).
  • Ability to address operations concerns and issues, monitoring overall client satisfaction, addressing training needs / requirements, and developing and implementing operational procedures and policies.
  • Attention to detail with exceptional analytical, decision making, time management, and problem-solving skills in high pressure situations.
  • Ability to effectively lead change within an organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with operations and sales staff and clients.
  • Proficient computer skills including email, mortgage loan origination systems, document systems, and automated underwriting systems.
  • Ability to drive desired teammate actions through motivational leadership.
  • Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act / anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars / conferences, etc.

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Recruit, train, develop and mentor high-performing mortgage operations managers and teammates to ensure ongoing success in meeting departmental goals and succession planning objectives.
  • Daily management of operations leaders and operations team. Oversee daily workflow to maximize production and minimize turn times to meet / exceed client expectations.
  • Solicits and responds to feedback while gaining commitment and support and providing clarity where needed.
  • Actively collaborate with senior leaders and other groups within and outside of mortgage (credit, compliance, vendors, etc) on overall business-related matters.

Identify trends and assess opportunities to improve processes and execution. Implements and evaluates process improvement initiatives.

  • Interact and foster relationships with sales leaders on priorities, pipeline management, and client service delivery via regular monthly meetings / calls.
  • Must balance client and MLO expectations with pipeline management policy and compliance requirements.
  • Directly resolve or coordinate resolution of client service escalations to ensure resolution is achieved.
  • Maintain quality control scores for gross and net defects within defined limits. Respond to QC defects and implement corrective actions within the process and coach performance.
  • Adheres to compliance with all federal bank regulations and laws, including those for consumer protection and the Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering Program
  • Effectively manage all applicable team matters associated with Human Resources, including but not limited to performance evaluations, execution and support of company goals, creed, mission and values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position manages managers and employees and is responsible for the coaching, development, and performance management of those employees.

This is a full-time position that requires schedule flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

This position requires up to 25% travel.
