Summary:

The Teacher – Intern is a semester long either a Level I or Level II internship program for a student in a university teacher preparation program. The Intern supports the class with a variety of functions, including implementing instructional programs, assessing student performance and other tasks as needed by teacher while completing University degree requirements. This is an unpaid position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Implements lessons plan including instructional groups per teacher’s direction.
  • Leads small and whole group of instruction for students.
  • Assists teacher in writing lesson plans and Individual Education Plans.
  • Assists in planning and developing/setting up instructional materials for classroom.
  • Assist in administering assessments/progress monitoring.
  • Works with the teacher in documenting academic progress through authentic observations and data collection.
  • Utilize and ensure consistent implementation of behavior techniques and classroom management techniques and data collection.
  • Perform teacher duties in his/her absence.
  • Keep up on best and promising practices for education (i.e., attending professional development, participating in book studies, etc.)
  • Provide caretaking/housekeeping duties as needed (i.e., changing of students, keeping classroom clean)
  • Maintain positive staff and parent interactions and communication.
  • Attend required training, meetings, and events.
  • Ensure the administration is informed of all parent and individual student concerns and complaints.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures, requirements and guidelines set forth by UCP, HIPAA, NAEYC, Department of Education, 4C, Department of Children and Families, and other State and Federal agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Education and Training:

  • 3 years of college related credit
  • Final year of college in an enrolled Teacher Prep degree program.

Minimum Experience:

  • Prefer experience working with students with and without disabilities in a multi-disciplinary setting through employment or service learning.
