Summary

This position is primarily responsible for leading the development efforts around the United Auto Credit custom solutions. Understanding the systems current design, intent, and expectations will be a paramount daily objective for the senior developer, in order to adequately design and develop future enhancements or fixes. Therefore, the ability to communicate well and understand both defined and abstracted concepts is a must.

In addition to his or her design and development efforts it is expected that the senior software developer is experienced enough to understand industry best-practice standards, apply them, and enforce them with other development team members. This implies regular code reviews and training sessions with team members in order to ensure that solutions are developed with the highest quality and are delivered on schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Work alongside the Business Analyst and aide in gathering business requirements as well as determining potential gaps in the requirements/requests.
• Investigate/learn all the details and nuances of the business core applications and their rules and purposes.
• Design solutions for fixes/business requests and work as part of a team to develop the solutions.
• On occasion aide in the support and troubleshooting of production issues.
• Mentor help grow other developers as well as assign work/tasks appropriately
• Continuously self-develop SQL skills, software language understanding, latest practices, and business understanding with the end goal of reaching a more senior role within the company.

• Advanced knowledge of a major object-oriented programming language such as Java or C#.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL development.
• Knowledge and previous application of SDLC.
• Managerial experience is a plus.
• Experience with lending/servicing/collections industry is a plus.

Education/Experience

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field
• Professional software development experience (5 years)
• SQL development (4 years)
• MSc is desired
