Job Expectations:
A. Perform instrumental service music and congregational accompaniment for:
Sunday morning and Christmas Eve services, choir rehearsals and other special events (such as the Stewardship / Pledge Drive program)
B. Planning and Administration
Meet with Minister as needed to plan for service
Research and recommend piano arrangements and thematic music in consultation with the Minister
C. Funerals / Weddings / Other Ceremonies
Be available for music consultation for weddings, funerals and other services which fall under the auspices of the church
If parties have not made their own arrangements, Accompanist will be consulted first before other musicians are asked
Experience:
- Proficient and experienced in playing piano
- Previous experience as a piano accompanist for theater productions, choirs, or congregational singing is highly preferred.
Skills:
- Ability to sight-read sheet music accurately is preferred.
- Familiarity with playing different musical styles, including classical, contemporary, gospel, religious, and musical theater.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with a team of professional and volunteer leaders.
- Ability to play an organ or harpsichord is not required but would be a bonus.
Timeline: We expect to review all applications the week of March 11th and hope to contact our applicants to schedule interviews by March 15th. Please let us know in your cover letter if you are available March 24th or 31st for a trial worship service (paid as a contracted performance).
