Sr. Project Manager

Job Description:

Basic function and scope of responsibilities

Unison Systems is looking for a Senior Project Manager for a client in the civil engineering space. This person must be fully competent in all conventional aspects of technical discipline and be capable of planning and conducting project tasks requiring independent judgment and collaboration with work groups to deliver client services and products.

This person must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as they will be acting as a liaison. Any emergency management and public safety experience would be very nice to have.

This is a full-time opportunity requiring one day on site weekly plus some travel for events/workshops/meetings.

Principal Responsibilities and essential functions

  • Leads in the formulation and delivery of advanced client solutions.
  • Responsible for managing major projects or an entire group of projects to develop and deliver emergency management guidance, processes, training and exercises for clients consistent with Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) methodology.
  • Collaborates with senior managers to design and implement long-range plans and objectives.
  • Independently performs highly complex professional assignments that require the application of standardized technical principles and professional expertise, especially in the area of emergency management.
  • Assists in determining schedules, scopes, and budgets for assignments.
  • Plans and designs project resources, prepares budgets, monitors progress, and keeps stakeholders informed throughout the life of the project.
  • Prepares reports, spreadsheets, checklists and presentations and visual aids using MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other technologies.
  • Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard security, safety, cyber, or emergency management techniques and procedures consistent with regulatory compliance.
  • Manages client communications and engagement pertaining to specific assignments or projects.
  • Conducts research, collects data and gathers information and documentation to support client deliverables.
  • Assists in developing and leading assessments, workshops, and meetings.
  • Represents Company and/or client work products at meetings and conferences.
  • Makes recommendations on project staffing and evaluates subordinate staff.
  • May assign tasks, coordinate work, and oversee completion of junior level analysts or administrative staff who assist in project assignments.
  • May be responsible for recruiting and managing employees.
  • Coaches and develops personal growth opportunities for staff.

Education and Licensing requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

PREFERRED Training, Skills, Knowledge and/or experience 

  • 10 years’ experience in security, public safety, emergency management, or cyber security, and continuous training in these disciplines is required.
  • Security certification from ASIS or a certification from a recognized safety, security, cyber security organization, or PE is preferred. 
  • PMP certification preferred. 
  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Member of a professional practice organization, and/or member of a local program or committee.
  • Serves in a local or national level leadership role.
  • Involved in outreach activities with community service organizations.
  • Must possess excellent knowledge of budget and earned value; has a strong understanding of the project management body of knowledge (best practices) for scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Maintains consistently excellent project performance in meeting financial targets, scope and schedule targets. 

Additional Notes

Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Generally, office work environment. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to independently travel and be physically present in the office or at a client site.
