Description

The Automation Technician works directly with the Engineering & Production Department to support our
manufacturing facility. They should have the ability to program, troubleshoot errors, and repair malfunctions with
welding robots, CNC water jet, PLC controlled equipment, CNC routers, CNC mills and machining centers, and other
CNC machines. The Automation Technician must possess the ability to ensure the automated systems and
equipment are serviced, programmed, adjusted, calibrated, and maintained. Must have the ability to design, fabricate,
install, test, modify, and troubleshoot electronic and control systems.

Qualifications


Tasks:

  • Work with the Engineering Department to program CNC Water Jet to CAD specifications and perform preventative maintenance
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshoot errors on CNC Mills and Machining Centers
  • Understand our company welding robot programming techniques and be current with the industry standards
  • Set up, troubleshoot, and maintain Welding Robots as well as implement new technologies and features
  • Become familiar with our Programmable Logic Controllers controlled lines, then have the ability to troubleshoot, program, and perform preventative maintenance
  • Install, troubleshoot, update, and program electronic safety equipment
  • Work with the Engineering Department to program CNC Routers to product specifications and perform preventative maintenance
  • Read and interpret CAD drawings and specifications
  • Apply strong mechanical/electronic aptitude when responding to maintenance requests
  • Perform other duties as assigned

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully
perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with

stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance;
stoop, kneel, talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities
required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate preferred
  • At least 3-5 years experience working with automation equipment and programmable controllers or
  • In lieu of 3-5 years experience will consider Electronics Degree/Certification or Military Electronics/Electrical Technician Training
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with industrial control hardware and communication systems - PLC’s
  • Must be able to apply mathematical concepts such as, fundamentals of fractions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
  • General Maintenance Experience a plus
