Union Tank Car Company - UTLX is Hiring a Material Handler Near Altoona, PA
We are looking for a 2nd shift Material Handler. Pay range of $25.00-$26.00, plus $2.00 per hour shift differential. You will play an active role in maintaining accurate inventory levels and support the team by prioritizing tasks to meet production goals.
- Safely loads/unloads materials onto pallets, racks and shelves by hand or using a variety of material handling equipment (such as a forklift)
- Conduct quality assessments of materials during loading/unloading operations
- Read and interpret work orders to determine which materials to pull and deliver
- Keep materials area and other work areas clean and orderly and report potential hazards
- Participate in counting materials for cycle counts and inventories
- Communicate and maintain inventory levels
- Have a High School Diploma or GED
- Have a valid driver’s license, with a good driving record in last 3 years
- Must be able to obtain forklift certification
- Prior experience operating a crane and/or forklift truck is preferred
- Material handling experience is required, and kitting experience is preferred
- Must be able to work effectively and efficiently both as a member of a team and independently
- Needs to prioritize work/training assignments as required
- Responsible for positive interaction and communication with staff, supervisors, and customers
- Able to follow written and/or verbal instructions with minimal supervision
- Safety and quality focused
- Be available to work any shift, and be dependable and reliable to show up for scheduled work shifts including overtime, as allowed per the union contract

- Will perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
