POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting members with their loan applications and processing all incoming commercial loans for Union Square Credit Union.

Requirements

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Responsible for assisting the Loan Officer (LO) in following up with applicants for additional needs, once the Loan Officer has decisioned the loan. After approval from the Loan Officer, the Specialist will process the loan request, based on the collateral and loan type, as instructed by the Loan Officer, and guided by policy and regulations.
  • Prepare loan documents and ensure timeliness to loan closings, as well as keeping the Loan Officer abreast of any changes in the flow of each request. Review recurring reports with Loan Officer’s to stay in front of any upcoming loans, or potential problem loans.
  • Communicate with the Loan Officer, members, appraisers, title companies, and closers to gather needed information, schedule closings, and submit needed documents.
  • Sort and organize incoming loans according to the business’s criteria and enter the relevant information into the system, and prepare and mail disclosures as necessary
  • Ensure that all post-closing duties on loan files, such as following up on the receipts of final title policies and deeds, quality control, and the payment of fees, are completed efficiently
  • Comply with all state and federal laws and regulations set forth by the National Credit Union Administration and other regulatory agencies
  • Check names against designated lists in compliance with BSA/AML/OFAC policy and procedures
  • Promote and maintain a positive and professional image of Union Square to employees, members, and the community
  • Secure and safeguard at all times the confidential information of members, employees, and the Credit Union pertaining to accounts, security, and personal information
  • Must have the flexibility to deal with changing work hours and locations as needed
  • Responsible for knowing and adhering to USCU policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook and training manuals
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, management, or Human Resources.

EXPERIENCE:

One year to three years of similar or related experience.

EDUCATION:

(1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

' Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.

' Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Nearly always work indoors. May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels, such as from office equipment.
