Union Gospel Mission is seeking a SKILL BUILDER PROGRAM COORDINATOR to help our residents gain invaluable skills for a successful life.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Residential Programs, the Skill Building Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day Skill Building Program planning, managing and updating of schedules and tasks. In addition, the SBPC provides connections to community resources and helps the Residents in navigating the process for government assistance. SBPC will use crisis intervention, supportive counseling, Solution Focused intervention and Motivational Interviewing in engaging and working with the Residents. SBPC will also provide hands-on client based programming, ensuring that these services meet the needs of the UGM-TC Residents. The SBPC works to assist the Resident in achieving goals, developing skills and address physical, mental, spiritual and problem solving skills in order for the Resident to graduate from the program with prospects for housing, employment, and sustainable independent living. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Minimum of Bachelors in Social Work required or Related Field.

Experience: Two (2) years of Social Work/Case Management experience preferred.

Additional Requirements: Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred. Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to work occasional flexible hours as requested.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Collect program fees and complete fee agreements with Residents.
  2. Collect necessary documentation for all Residents who receive income such as, Employment Verification Form (EVF), Award Letter, Disability, Unemployment, and all other forms of income.
  3. Assign and train Residents for the Skill Building Programs through the Mission.
  4. Interact with Residents regarding life skills, activities of daily living, laundry, room cleanliness, and hygiene, etc. 
  5. Compose a Skill Building Assessment entry into the client management system within the first week of arrival.
  6. Develop a Skill Building Program schedule including individualized goals with Residents.
  7. Provide residents with assistance and support as needed regarding program progress, program class attendance, behavioral issues, problems, etc. Seek or identify strengths and goals.
  8. Connect Residents to referral network/linkages with outside agencies.
  9. Attend all scheduled Department meetings and trainings.
  10. Assist Case Managers as needed.
  11. Maintain documentation of services provided in the client management system and Resident files with current documentation, including case notes, intake documentation, paperwork received for services with outside agencies and referrals for services. 
  12. Provide assistance in connecting residents to benefits and community as appropriate per individual.
  13. Ensure the timely completion of case notes. 
  14. Prepare a weekly and monthly written report regarding clients met with and direction provided.
  15. Communicate with Mission Support Services Team regarding operational and supply needs of facilities.
  16. Review chore assignments of their case load each week and address issues as they arise.
  17. Other duties as assigned.
