Union Gospel Mission is seeking a DISH WASHER to assist in daily service to our guests. 

POSITION SUMMARY

The dishwasher ensures that all surface and preparation areas are clean and is responsible for the cleaning of all dishes, cooking equipment and serving equipment. The Dishwasher functions as an essential member of the food service department team, and as such, accepts assignments to perform various duties within the kitchen. The Dishwasher reports to the Food Services Director. 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience: Minimum 1 year experience working in a food production setting 
• Additional Requirements: Current Food Handlers Permit

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

•  Conduct daily inspection to be sure all items and chemicals are available to complete dish room duties, report items needed to Food Service Director.
• Set up dining room with needed utensils before the meal/keep dining area clean.
• Clean all dishes utensils quickly and efficiently using sink and dish machine.
• Place all cleaned utensils and dishes in proper storage area.
• Keep dish room clean and empty trash daily.
• Train skill builders on cleaning standards, proper techniques and how to operate dish machine. Review all Safety Protocols for slip and falls and proper lifting.
• Other duties as assigned.

•  Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds dead weight. 
• Ability to retrieve items from bottom shelves/drawers and the ability to move product boxes.
• Ability to reach, turn and twist above and below the waist daily to product items or supplies.
• Ability to stand and walk daily to retrieve items from other campus locations.
• Ability to hear and speak well enough to communicate on the facility switchboard, as needed.
• Ability to spend 10% of working time outside in temperature varying from -0^oF to 110^oF.
• Ability to spend 90% working time in environment of continuous moderate voices and office machine noise typical for business office atmosphere.
• Ability to handle a variety of repetitive tasks.
