TITLE: IT Specialist

PERFORMANCE SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

The IT Specialist’s tasks include, but are not limited to, maintaining and improving the technical systems of the company to ensure all employees have the technology and resources needed to complete their work and that the organization’s data is protected and meets business continuity requirements.

REPORTS TO: Controller

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree is highly desirable. 2 to 3 years of experience in a business computing environment. Demonstrated proficiency in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of desktop and server operating systems, business applications, computer hardware, printers, and network devices. IT Certifications are highly desirable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE JOB:

Standard office and manufacturing environment, including the ability to lift a minimum of fifty pounds.

MAJOR PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Security: Administration of physical and IT security, including, but not limited to, firewall management, VPNs, certificate services, vulnerability scanning, and access control systems.
• End User Facing: Account Creation and management, licensing management and software acquisition, and maintenance and repairs of client devices, mobile phones, tablets, and phone system devices.
• Infrastructure: Installation and maintenance of Windows and Linux servers in a virtualized environment, vLAN configuration, Google Workspace, and Office 365
• Employee Management tasks may include hiring, training, task assignment, and feedback.
• Design and implementation of building automation system.

SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

• Management of a virtualized environment utilizing Proxmox or Vmware.
• Windows server and desktop, Linux, MacOS, Android and iOS operating systems.
• LXC/LXD and Docker container systems
• Backup solutions - Proxmox Backup server, UrBackup, and CubeBackup
• AD for multiple sites, Azure / Office 365, Radius, VPN (IPsec, OpenVPN,

Tinc), DHCP, DNS, AWS Hosted Services, LAMP, Terminal Server and Thin Clients, Google Workspace, and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.

HARDWARE KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

• Firewall/Routers – PfSense and Ubiquiti
• Ubiquiti Switches and APs
• vLAN Management
• Phone System - Nortel/Avaya PBX Management, IP Phones/Digital desk phones.
• Installation and termination of ethernet and coaxial cabling.
