We are currently hiring for Plant Quality Assurance Technician

This position is eligible for a SIGN-ON BONUS OF $1,500

What you’ll do

  • Safety: Provide “leadership by example” with a proactive approach toward the health and safety of all customers, employees and visitors.
  • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are strictly adhered to.

Work safely around chemicals and follow PPE requirements.

  • Quality: Maintain and improve the company’s Total Quality Management Program. The items listed below apply to Duties and Responsibilities at Unilock facilities but is not all-inclusive. 

Level 1 Requirements

  • Obtain a working knowledge of the Unilock TQM and Concrete Technology standards.
  • Perform Quality tests and/or evaluate results of these tests as performed by Production for conformance to standards. 
  • Ensure all Production testing is performed accurately and documented for future reference. 
  • Produce custom sales samples as directed by QA Manager. This includes working with suppliers to order special aggregates and communicating with Sales as to the expected time for the sample to be available.

Level 2 Requirements

  • Level 1 inspector for six months minimum. 
  • Obtain IDOT PCC Level 1/ACI Level 1 Field Testing certification or equivalent if required based on local requirements. 
  • Provide additional Quality and Technical support to Production during the manufacturing and packaging of complicated products and for projects which require tighter tolerances. 
  • Schedule the testing of products and organize the packaging and shipment with Production and Shipping.
  • Manufacture of proprietary products used in production. This requires the ability to operate forklift in a small area, lift up to 50lbs., measure components precisely, and report materials consumed and inventory to Accounting.

Level 3 Requirements

  • Level 2 inspector for 1 year.
  • Obtain and demonstrate a working knowledge of production standards, and recognize when corrective action must be taken. Corrective Action can be 
  • initiated based on basic knowledge of the manufacturing equipment and the characteristics of raw materials and their impact on Quality.

  • Ensure all quality inspection equipment is calibrated per requirements by communicating with the QA Manager. 
  • Ensure all IDOT/NYDOT/MTO requirements are strictly adhered to during production of those products which are pay items of these entities. 

Level 4 Requirements

  • Level 3 inspector for 1 year. 
  • Work with raw material suppliers to ensure compliance with Unilock quality standards. 
  • Active interaction with Production, Sales, and Customer Service on quality issues encountered in the Field as to minimize the impact on the job and future projects. 
  • Work with QA Manager to develop and test new concrete technologies, develop new products and/or finishes. 

Level 5 Requirements

  • Level 4 inspector for 1 year. 
  • Be able to (at a basic level) operate production equipment, calibrate, and adjust if necessary to resolve production issues. This varies based on location, but can include the processes listed below:
  • Wet Cast
  • Hermetic
  • Dry Cast Standard Product
  • Dry Cast Face Mix Product
  • Elegance
  • Admixture
