Are you a highly motivated and experienced Sales leader seeking a new opportunity in the hospitality industry? Embassy Suites by Hilton Buffalo is searching for a dedicated individual to lead our sales and catering team.

In the ever-changing hospitality market, we are seeking an individual who can analyze those needs, solicit and secure new business, and maintain strong relationships with clients in all facets of the hospitality industry. The successful candidate must possess the following experience/knowledge: Understand and conceptualize the mission of the company with strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Forecasting, creative thinking, and exceptional follow-up as well as the ability to manage a team by managing change effectively and lead by example. Team building experience and displaying leadership qualities at all times. Hands-on experience in developing new business/customers and monitoring the competition. Skills required: String technical skills, excellent time management skills, experience in hotel sales software.

Job Summary

The Director of Salesis responsible forleading the sales team, developing and implementing effective sales strategies, driving revenue growth and achieving business objectivesThe primary focus of this position is to lead the sales team in expanding the company’s client base, nurturing strong relationships and ensuring the success of sales efforts.

Essential Functions:

  • Sales Strategy and Planning Responsibilities:

  • Establishes profitable and cost-effective sales programs, aligning them with the overall business objectives of the organization.
  • Analyzes market trends, competitors, and customer feedback to make data-driven decisions and gain a competitive advantage.
  • Identifies new business opportunities, target markets, and potential revenue streams to drive sales growth.
  • Forecasts sales targets, monitors performance against objectives, and makes necessary adjustments to ensure departmental achievement of goals.

  • Team Leadership and Development Responsibilities:

  • Supervises department staff, including interviews, hires and trains employees; plans, assigns and directs work; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves conflict.
  • Leads, mentors, and motivates the sales team to surpass individual and team targets while achieving the organization’s mission.
  • Conducts regular performance evaluations, provides constructive feedback, and facilitates professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Develops and implements a business plan.
  • Communicates the organizational goals and objectives and inspires team members to achieve those goals.
  • Fosters a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages innovation and teamwork.
  • Serves as a change management advocate.

  • Sales Performance and Analysis Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and evaluates sales metrics, KPI’s, and revenue reports to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develops action plans to address challenges, optimize resources, and maximize profitability.

  • Budgeting and Forecasting Responsibilities:

  • Assists in developing sales budgets and revenue targets, ensuring adherence to financial goals.
  • Providesaccurate sales forecasts and revenue projections to aid in strategic planning and decision-making.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strengthens existing business relationships while actively pursuing and cultivating new partnerships
  • Maintains positive relationships with vendors to reinforce and retain cost effective and quality contracted services. Negotiates documents relating to service and other contracts.
  • Ensures adherence to government regulations and related requirements concerning conformity, compliance, and accurate record keeping.
  • Represents the company and makes presentations at industry events, trade shows, and networking forums to promote the brand and expand the network of potential clients.
  • Works collaboratively with other departments to ensure seamless execution of sales initiatives and to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
  • Ensures all customer interactions and sales processes adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and customer service excellence.
  • Strives to meet or exceed department company goals and objectives.
  • Attempts to communicate with guests in guest’s native language, if applicable.
  • Reports maintenance deficiencies, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.
  • Follows Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, and report any defective, damaged, or lost PPE including equipment that does not fit properly to management.
  • Follows all safety procedures and be able to recognize and act in emergency situations.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Degree or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) preferred.
  • 5 years of progressive sales management experience in a 4-star hotel or resort preferred.
  • 5 years of experience of supervisory executive level is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • DelphiFDC Sales System experience preferred.
  • Experience with social and wedding market preferred.
  • Experience working with Hilton brands is a plus.
  • Apply an organized approach to all responsibilities and strive to improve processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with guests, employees, and third parties that reflects highly on the hotel, the brand, and the company.
  • Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from management, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Must have strong selling and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships, communicate effectively with staff and management, analyze and resolve problems, use independent judgment, and engage successfully with the public.
  • Arrange and conduct special events, site inspections, and off-site presentations for potential clients.
  • Represent hotel at trade shows and conventions and/or participate in sales trips to key feeder markets.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and ability to effectively use hotel software systems.
  • Ability to operate in a 7-day per week, 24-hour per day business setting.
  • Ability to perform intermediate math to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
