Job Summary: 

As a key member of the Accounting Team, the General Ledger Accountant assists the Controller with the preparation of financial reports and budgets, supporting schedules, tracking of the organization’s assets, liabilities, cash management and other related financial activities. In addition to working closely and collaboratively with other members of the Accounting team, the General Ledger Accountant will also have important interactions with other functional areas including Service, Sales and Construction Operations. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Maintains the general ledger 

• Prepares recurring monthly recurring and adjusting journal entries 

• Prepares monthly balance sheet account reconciliations 

• Updates the Fixed Asset system and records the monthly depreciation 

• Prepares periodic schedules and analysis that support financial statements 

• Investigates and analyzes account discrepancies and irregularities and evaluates financial results for reasonableness 

• Assists with preparation for financial and tax audits

• Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies and manages payments and refunds from taxing agencies 

• Assists with budget preparation and reporting and analysis of variances to actual 

• Prepares daily cash reports 

• Participates in collections activities and manages the cash expectations 

• Ensures all processes are properly documented 

Physical Requirements: 

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 

• Must be able to move items of up to 15 lbs.

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, and two to five years of related experience. 

• Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles. 

• Strong financial analysis skills. 

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel. Experience with pivot tables, queries, and vlookups is a plus. 

• Experience using Sage 300 CRE is a plus. 

• Excellent organizational and time management skills 

• High attention to detail and accuracy. 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

• Ability to multitask
