Supplier Quality Engineer Summary: As a member of the Global Supply Chain Team, the Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for developing Alkegen’s supplier base with a focus on supplier quality and ESG compliance. Alkegen suppliers are an extension of Alkegen and a critical part of our success. In a fast-paced environment, the SQE Engineer will focus on supplier assessment/selection/qualification, supplier development, supplier risk management and supplier quality control, with a heavy focus on completing supplier on-site audits. The position will be based in our Europe corporate office hub and report to Alkegen’s Global Director Supplier Quality & ESG. SQE Engineer Responsibilities: Conduct supplier audits to verify compliance to Alkegen quality & ESG requirements as well as ISO-9001, IATF-16949, VDA, MMOG and customer specific requirements, as applicable. Work with Alkegen sites to reduce supplier risk through the supplier approval process, risk analysis matrix and supplier scorecard process. Maintain and report on supplier metrics. Provide maintenance and support to the Alkegen supplier portal. Collaborate with R&D/Product Development teams playing an active role in new supplier selection, qualification, development and approval. Along with Category Managers, support sourcing strategies where beneficial and work with Alkegen sites to qualify suppliers/materials/ services. Investigate and work alongside suppliers and Alkegen technical resources to determine root cause for supplier quality issues and confirm corrective actions. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve supplier quality & ESG objectives/metrics and improved product/process quality. Facilitate successful PPAP submissions through development of supplier process flows, APQP, and other program specific required documents. Contribute ideas toward and support procurement cost savings efforts. Conduct external & internal training on supplier quality & ESG requirements and supplier portal. SQE Engineer Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree, preferred in engineering, science or logistics Auditing experience with current internal auditing certifications for ISO-9001 & IATF -16949, with VDA and MMOG experience preferred Demonstrated ability to write a structured audit report, follow up and close findings Minimum of two years’ experience in a Quality, Supplier Quality or Engineering role in a manufacturing environment, preferred in automotive as Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier Multilingual: English and (French, German, or Mandarin) preferred Ability to travel internationally up to 50% Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and high standards Ability to generate accurate and timely reports to support business needs Experienced in root cause analysis tools and problem-solving methods Knowledge and experience with APQP concepts and methodologies including FMEA, quality control planning, PPAP, SPC, MSA, error-proofing, poka yoke methods Strong statistical analysis capability, experience with Minitab preferred Self-starter with a positive attitude who takes initiative to learn, ask questions, and recommend ways to improve existing processes Excellent organization skills and attention to detail Proficient in MS Office suite Key Metrics: Supplier Scorecard Improvement Supplier Risk Score Reduction Procurement Cost Savings Supplier Compliance to Quality & ESG Requirements Alkegen is a specialty materials leader serving mission-critical systems that the world is focused on for the future, including: battery technologies, electric vehicles, filtration media, and specialty insulation materials that enable customers to reduce fossil fuel consumption, save energy, and live greener.
