All positions require that the applicant be a resident of Wyandotte county or willing to relocate within (12) months from the date of hire. As a condition of employment all employees must pass a post offer physical examination and drug screen. And submit proof of identity and employment eligibility.
Job Description:
Cadets are responsible for representing the Police Department in a professional manner while providing support and assistance to community outreach programs, neighborhood groups, professional business groups, anti-crime initiatives, and at-risk juvenile programs. They are expected to be a community role model and exemplify the high ethical and moral standards set by the Kansas City Kansas Police Department. While participating in law enforcement programs and supporting sworn & non-sworn members of the KCKPD. This position will provide an opportunity to learn entry level skills such as customer service, work ethic, self-discipline, military bearing, clerical skills and community engagement. Duties may include providing support and assistance in law enforcement civilian activities as well attending business district anti-crime meetings, serving the community through homeless outreach and community food kitchens within the community of Kansas City, Kansas. Additionally there may be opportunities for the applicant to participate in community policing programs for example: neighborhood clean-ups, minor home repairs and any other project that involves interaction with the community. This program will begin on June 6, 2024 and end on August 1, 2024
Qualifications:
Applicant must be a United States Citizen and a Wyandotte County resident between the ages of 16 and 19 years of age. This program is limited to high school students in good standing and should be considered as an initial stepping stone toward a career in public service.
The completed application must be accompanied with transcripts (unofficial are acceptable) from the high school including grade information and attendance records for the applicant. Applicants who apply for the Summer Outreach Cadet position will be required to pass a pre-employment background drug screen.
$15.00 per hour
