Job Summary:

The Director of Employee Safety at Unified Door & Hardware Group is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs to ensure the well-being of employees in compliance with OSHA regulations. This role involves conducting safety audits, providing training, investigating incidents, and fostering a culture of safety. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and a thorough understanding of safety regulations, particularly those set by OSHA.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and oversee safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
• Conduct safety audits and assessments to identify and address potential hazards.
• Provide training to employees on safety protocols and procedures in accordance with OSHA standards.
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence, adhering to OSHA reporting requirements.
• Foster a culture of safety through communication and engagement with employees.
• Stay informed about OSHA regulations and best practices to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with management to address safety concerns and implement improvements in alignment with OSHA guidelines.
• Serve as a resource for employees on safety-related matters, including OSHA compliance.

Education/Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in health and safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health or related field
• 5 years of Safety Experience

Experience: 

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety leadership role, preferably in a similar industry such as manufacturing or construction. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and safety standards, with experience in multi-site environments preferred
• Knowledge of environmental management systems and best practices, including experience supporting DEP audits and other environmental initiatives
• Knowledge of safety management systems and best practices, including experience supporting OSHA audits and other safety initiatives
• Familiarity with risk assessment and incident investigation techniques, adaptable to unique requirements of manufacturing and construction safety
• Awareness of industry trends in employee safety.
• Leadership skills to motivate teams effectively.
• Clear communication skills for conveying safety protocols.
• Analytical skills to assess risks and analyze data.
• Problem-solving abilities to address safety concerns.
• Interpersonal skills for collaboration with staff and management.
