We have a great opportunity for an experienced Carpenter to work in our NJ Region stores! This FT Carpenter-Handyman will perform maintenance and repair work for our store locations within the region. This position will focus on inspection, repairs and testing to ensure that work performed completes the project, adhering to our safety standards and practices. (Store locations will include from Yorktown Heights, NY to Tinton Falls, NJ).

The ideal candidate will enjoy local travel (Northern NJ area) with their position and have in-depth knowledge and experience working as a Carpenter.

Responsibilities

• Conducts regular store inspections, checking for anything that might need carpentry attention
• Respond to ticket items that require repair, prioritizing based on urgency
• Will inspect, repair and replace items with wear and tear such as doors, handles, floor tiles, hinges, ceiling tiles, etc.
• Will assemble products for stores such as desks, tables, etc.
• Will fix minor repairs associated with any of our stores, assessing the repair and providing a solution for the repair
• Replace sinks, toilets, lightbulbs, leaky water connections, etc
• Other duties and functions as assigned

Requirements

• HS Diploma or equivalent
• A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Carpenter/Handyman working with construction hands on projects such as assembling products/items, fixing broken items such as doors, knobs, etc, wall hangings, and all other types of Handyman functions
• Knowledge of carpentry, electrical systems, HVAC and other building systems
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and stores and prioritize tasks
• Strong problem solving and time management skills
• Must be experienced with facilities management principles and practices
• Must be a good communicator who can work autonomously, with little direction
• Must be project oriented with focus on detail
• Must speak, read, write fluent English

Working Conditions

• Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.
• May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 50 pounds with assistance.
• Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.
• There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents, sharp objects/industrial equipment necessary to perform job duties and functions.
