JOB SUMMARY: Provides skilled assistance to surgeons during surgery. Assists the nurse in planning/implementing basic care as delegated. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the ages of the patient/clients served. Demonstrates the ability to provide care according to hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Performs other duties as deemed competent. Provides care over an extended time, in various settings, spanning the illness to wellness continuum. Performs other related duties as deemed competent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School graduate. Graduate of an approved CNA training program
Experience: Previous experience desirable. Preferably, some Long-term care, med-surgical, or related
Other: Considerable skill and knowledge of surgical instrumentation, proper sterile technique and knowledge of surgical procedures required. Ability to work with others.
License/Registration:CNA I-current listing as CNA I with Division of Facility Services with no substantial findings Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) is required
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires range of motion within functional limits. Occasionally lifting 35 pounds from floor to shoulder level, pushing 40 pounds, pulling 80 pounds. Frequently standing/walking, repetitive trunk rotation – standing; manual dexterity; both handedness (both hands much be used). Requires functional vision and hearing. Occasionally carrying 15 pounds one handed; work kneeling, squatting/crouching. Visional color discrimination and visual depth perception.
