About the Role
The Radiation Therapist will play a critical role in delivering high-quality radiation therapy to cancer patients. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, empathy, and a commitment to providing exceptional care. Responsibilities include:
Treatment Planning and Delivery:
Collaborate with oncologists and physicists in the development of treatment plans.
Administer radiation therapy treatments with precision and accuracy.
Patient Care:
Educate and prepare patients for radiation therapy sessions.
Provide emotional support and address patient concerns throughout the treatment process.
Equipment Operation:
Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment, ensuring optimal functionality.
Perform quality assurance checks on equipment to guarantee accurate treatment delivery.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to radiation safety protocols and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of patient treatments and progress.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to update patient charts and treatment plans.
Patient Monitoring:
Monitor and assess patients for any treatment-related side effects.
Report and document any observed changes in patient status.
Continuing Education:
Stay informed about advances in radiation therapy technology and treatment techniques.
Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance professional development.
Compensation is commensurate with education and experience. Hiring compensation ranges from $ $44.22 / hour. This is a non-exempt position. Comprehensive benefits eligible after a 60-day waiting period.

Minimum Education
Graduate of an accredited school of Radiation Therapy
Experience
Proven experience in delivering radiation therapy treatments.
Required Registration/License/Certification
Certified as a Radiation Therapist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association is required at the time of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Expertise in radiation therapy treatment planning and delivery.
Proactive patient education and addressing concerns.
Thorough knowledge of radiation safety protocols and compliance standards.
Accurate record-keeping and effective communication skills.
Analytical problem-solving and commitment to continual learning.
Physical Demands
Ability to stand, move, and operate radiation therapy equipment.
Manual dexterity for precise treatment planning and delivery.
Visual acuity to monitor and assess patients and equipment.
Physical stamina to handle the demands of a clinical setting.
Working Conditions
Primarily work within the Seby B Jones Regional Cancer Center.
Exposure to radiation therapy equipment and associated safety measures.
Collaboration with healthcare professionals in a dynamic and patient-focused environment.
Flexibility to adapt to changes in schedules and patient needs.
