We are looking for a Sr. Manager, Creative Excellence to join Translation! Please note that this role is a Hybrid role and preferably based in our Brooklyn, NY office: three days in office and two days remote.


What You'll Do

The Sr. Manager of Creative Excellence will be responsible for setting our external agency awards practice up for success (wins) by working with our Chief Creative Officer, local teams, and Senior Communication Director to drive creative excellence across all entries and submissions. 

We are looking for someone industry-savvy to lead the creation of compelling marketing and award materials that are aligned with company goals and storylines. The ideal candidate is a strong writer who is able to outline scripts, award entry materials, and edit marketing materials from case study video scripts to website copy to optimize as needed. 

This person should have and maintain strong relationships with award and event organizers and contribute to industry awards opportunities, brand campaign messaging, and external recognition initiatives for the company. Since this role will work closely with developing case study videos against our work, this person will also support new business, ensuring that our work materials are up to date and can support our new business efforts. The role will work closely with our Chief Creative Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, Senior Director of Communications, and Creative department. This role will report to the Creative Chief of Staff. 

  • This role will act as the strategic force behind our awards engine, ensuring that we assess our work against key industry standards along with acting as the decision-maker around what awards shows we enter our work into, what categories our work has the best chance at winning within, and aligning with key business objectives
  • You will build and champion a process by which our entries are the most compelling and best representation of our work
  • This role will strategize with our senior leadership team and Creative and brand account leaders on the work we think has the best chance to win. This includes gaining a deeper understanding of what’s historically won coveted awards and harnessing cultural shifts, ensuring we are intentional about what categories we enter to ensure we have the best chance of success
  • You will develop and maintain a calendar of industry awards and events where our work can be featured and spotlighted
  • You will coordinate and organize all award entries, shortlists, and wins, ranging from cataloging our work to building case studies, liaising with each award show, and managing deadlines
  • You will manage status updates for award submissions, including planning and summarizing resultsYou will have an in-depth understanding of the organization’s offerings and products
  • You will ensure materials (website, case studies, new business decks) are up to date - reflecting the agency’s latest work and point-of-view
  • You will work in partnership with project managers and our internal production teams to manage the production of case study videosYou will partner with the project management team to create timelines for teams to work against, including reviews, revisions, and final deliveries
  • You will partner with our finance and operations department to manage the payment of show fees and keep track of our awards budget
  • You will network and establish relationships with award leaders in an effort to champion our inclusion on the right juries, panels, events, etc.
  • You will partner with our business development leaders including our Chief Marketing Officer to develop net new materials or update existing company materials to be shared and presented externally

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Digitally savvy; MUST be skilled in Google and Microsoft Office suite (Mac OS) Slack
  • Strategic ability to balance company vision while managing highly detail-oriented tasks
  • Has an innate sense of curiosity about storytelling and technology
  • Have the proven ability to work under tight deadlines and handle pressure, while consistently paying attention to accuracy and quality of work.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of agency or allied communications industry experience that ensures your general understanding of marketing and the advertising industry 
  • 4-year college degree preferred

Salary Hiring Range: $110,000 - $125,000

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide (e.g. bonus, stock options, 401(k) match, etc.)

Individual pay rate decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors. 

The range above is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate.

The salary range above is for the NY/CA. As a company, we have a location based strategy, which means the salary range could be lower or higher than this if the role is hired in another location.
