What You will Do:

The intern will be introduced to the key concepts of the loan origination process through the assigned task of underwriting a renewal credit action for an existing customer. Leading up to completion of this assignment, the intern will interact directly with Relationship Managers, Market Director, and Regional Director, be trained on financial analysis for credit decisioning, applicable credit policies and guidelines, credit memo presentation and the approval process. The assignment will culminate in a client visit and loan approval.

What You Will Learn:

This internwill gain a broad understanding of Commercial Banking through exposure to the different roles that provide expertise in providing customers with a holistic banking relationship, while observing and participating in the conversations and activities that occur to achieve the banking unit’s objectives. The candidate will have exposure to several different roles that they may want to pursue post-graduation with an understanding of career trajectory, observe how to communicate and interact in a professional setting, and get to put into practice some of the financial concepts they’ve learned in school.

About You:

A university junior or senior pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or other Business-related field. Additionally, they should have strong attention to detail, and financial acumen along with intermediate proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word and MS SharePoint.

Available to work full-time, forty hours weekly Monday through Friday, for thirteen weeks beginning in May or June on-site daily in Irvine, CA.

Umpqua Bank offers a Flexible Workplace Program and this opportunity comes with the Flex Office work style which is working in office from a designated company location three days weekly with flexibility to work remotely up to two days weekly.

Our Benefits:

The pay rate for this role is $20.00 per hour. Interns are eligible to participate in the company’s 401(k)-retirement savings plan and are entitled to paid sick time and holiday pay.
