Major Responsibilities:

  • Attend daily rounds in the infusion area to discuss patients and flow of day.
  • Print out patient medication lists daily.
  • Prep upcoming appointments one week prior, and again 2 days prior.
  • Document on every patient - reason for visit, vital signs, height/weight, pain scale, medication update. Ensure MDs are up to date with patient signs/symptoms as needed.
  • Clean rooms after each patient/Stock all rooms weekly.
  • Perform routine venipuncture with accuracy. Additional training will be coordinated with phlebotomy at main Hospital campus to ensure efficiency in venipuncture.
  • Set up room for bone marrow biopsies, assist and process specimens and paperwork for transport. Clean room after procedures.
  • Verification of expiration dates in exam rooms and lab room.

  • Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.
  • Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
  • Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
  • Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
  • Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
  • Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
  • All responsibilities are essential job functions.

Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:
Required:

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred and certification or equivalent experience required.
  • American Heart Association B.L.S. for health care provider required upon hire or during orientation and every two years thereafter.

Experience/Skills:
Required:

  • No experience required if certified; if not certified, equivalent experience is required.

Preferred:

  • Prior phlebotomy experience.
  • Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
  • Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
