First Shift - Monday through Thursday 5:00am - 3:30pm and some Friday shifts
Job Title: Welder I
Starting Base Pay: $21.00 Per Hour*
Employee Type: Hourly Non-Exempt Full Time
Location: 391 Kennedy Drive, Red Bud, IL 62278
*Wage based on weld test results and experience.
What you'll do in this role:
The Welder builds healthy communities through play and recreation by safely welding metal parts together using specified wire welding processes to produce high quality assemblies.
Experience is required, must be able to pass a welding test. Weld a variety of steel types and thicknesses. Some aluminum is included. Primary welding process is GMAW (MIG) using semi-automatic and robotic welding equipment.
Safety:
  • Comply with all safety requirements and maintain a strong safety culture. Must have a safety-first mentality through proactively speaking up about concerns, following PPE requirements and setting an example for others to follow.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in accordance with 5S requirements for cleanliness.
  • Keep welding tools clean and functional.
Quality:
  • Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers and ruler.
  • Select appropriate tools, materials, and gas ratios for different jobs.
  • Prepare both metals and work surfaces for the production process.
  • Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.
  • Cuts work piece, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife.
  • Melts lead bar, wire, or scrap to add lead to joint or to extrude melted scrap into reusable form.
  • May install or repair equipment.
  • Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
  • Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
  • Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Heats, forms, and dresses metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment.
  • Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.
  • Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
  • Uses templates and other work aids to hold and align parts to ensure quality and consistency of parts produced.
  • Inspection, diagnosing problems and carry out appropriate checking/testing.
  • Determines required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.

  • Maintain accurate records/documentation associated with work.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Measure and cut materials to meet the specifications of the project.
  • Set an example for team members of commitment, application of skill, work ethics and habits and personal character.
  • Looking for a strong safety minded, enthusiastic person with can do attitude. Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving ability. Must have excellent work ethic with strong communication skills to engage with both the customer and internal teams.
