Ultium Cells Overview: 

Ultium Cells is a joint venture Lithium-Ion Automotive Battery Cell Manufacturing plant between LG Energy Solutions and General Motors. This new construction high-technology plant will have the latest Battery Cell manufacturing technology. The investment in this new business venture represents a commitment of more than $2.3 Billion. It will be among the largest Battery Cell Manufacturing plants in the world. Ultium Cells will produce battery cells for General Motors North American electric vehicle applications.

Position Description: 

This position will be part of the defect engineering specialist team responsible for data acquisition related to defect engineering work ensuring a product or component meets the established standards. The defect engineering specialist is responsible for maintenance of equipment to ensure proper results. Verifying defect standards in accordance with the requirements of the organization. Communicate effectively within all levels and across functions of organization to discuss and resolve defect issues in a timely manner.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Collect data related to defect engineering – particle counts, equipment specifications and cleanliness compliance.
• Ensure parameter settings for controls are complying per defect specifications before startup of equipment. 
• Conduct air quality checks throughout the process to ensure zero defects. 
• Real time monitoring of air, temperature and humidity for all processes in production. 
• Cleanliness management on the shop floor. 
• Performance monitoring of the area to ensure the process in place is sufficient and complaint. 
• Maintain defect equipment to ensure optimal performance. 
• Performance monitoring to ensure effectiveness of corrective actions. 
• Ensure compliance with workplace safety programs
• Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications and Competencies: 

• High School Education required 
• College education preferred.
• Positive, dedicated attitude and demonstrated effectiveness to achieve given goals within due dates 
• The willingness and ability to work flexible hours occasionally to support team 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills 
• Ability to work in a team environment to drive success
• Ability to use technology for furthering functional competencies 
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• All other duties as assigned
