Job title: CMM Technician (Operator/Programmer)

Reports to: Lab Manager

Supervisory responsibilities: None

Summary/objective: Become a part of one of the leading fixture shops in West Michigan, located in the heart of Grand Rapids. Ultimate Gaging Systems (UGS) is a highly successful, growth-oriented fixture shop that provides a wide range of services to automotive, aerospace, appliance, and agriculture equipment manufacturers in greater North America.

Currently we are looking for a CMM Technician to join our team who best supports our customers, co-workers, and core principles – “Commitment to meeting or exceeding our customers’ requirements and continually improving our product quality.”

The ideal candidate has previous metrology experience certifying checking fixtures using coordinate measuring machines and micrometers. You will work with builders to adjust and certify fixtures in a high pace atmosphere. We prefer the Candidate has experience with PC-DMIS and have a lot of potential to learn new things quickly.

Essential functions:

· Certify check fixtures using PC-DMIS

· Use forklift to set up and swap out different fixtures

· Work unsupervised while following our 17025 lab Procedures & Policies

· Other miscellaneous tasks assigned by the Foreman as needed

Required competency, education, and experience:

· Knowledge of current PC-DMIS

· Familiar with standard practices in an ISO 17025 accredited lab

· Experience operating a CMM

· Fluent knowledge of GD & T

· Ability to read and understand part prints and designs

· Microsoft Excel and Word proficient

· Computer (Windows) proficient

· Good mechanical aptitude

· Detail oriented self-starter with a positive attitude, good work ethic, punctual

· High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred education and experience:

· Familiar with Automotive, Appliance, and Aerospace checking fixtures

· Experience with the evolving pace and environment of a fixture shop helpful

· Basic understanding of CMM hardware and maintenance

· Experience with Solidworks or other cad software

Work environment: Manufacturing environment.

Physical demands:

· Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.

· Ability to use hands, wrists, fingers.

· Ability to reach with hands and arms.

· Employee must possess visual acuity to operate machines and forklifts.

Position type and expected hours of work: Full time. Day Shift, Monday - Friday. 6 am - 4:30 pm.

Travel: No travel required.
