THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:

As a Manager of Engineering and Facilities at Ulta Beauty, you will serve as the “go-to” for all things mechanical within our Distribution Center. From maintaining all equipment and ensuring minimal downtime to developing a staff of mechanics and electricians to provide adequate coverage, you will implement a sound and efficient maintenance program, having a stock of cataloged critical spare parts and source for less-than-critical parts locally. This role also provides leadership and technical guidance for the maintenance operations in other facilities with same support culture, approach, strategy and execution as outlined. In short, you will serve as a critical contributor to the ongoing excellence of our Distribution Centers, maximizing productivity, growing associates, and championing all aspects of the Ulta Beauty culture and value system.

Within the scope of this role is building maintenance, repair and building services; performing corrective, predictive and preventative maintenance procedures to material handling equipment, controls systems, employee scanning equipment, conveyor systems, rack and order picking structures; and building and grounds maintenance, including HVAC, electrical and plumbing.

A lot of responsibility, to be sure. But if you want a career that will challenge you in all the best ways, we encourage you to take the next step toward true career fulfillment.

You will accomplish all of these goals by:

  • Assuming direct reporting responsibility for all Maintenance Mechanics as well as indirect responsibility for non-exempt maintenance employees
  • Managing preventive maintenance programs and ensuring schedules are adhered to in order to minimize downtime
  • Planning/assigning advanced work assignments
  • Providing technical expertise in the areas of sortation, electrical and mechanical systems
  • Completing quality audits of mechanic work tasks and communicate results
  • Constantly communicating operations and maintenance issues to DC Management
  • Identifying and proposing meaningful improvements to the material handling system to improve productivity, quality and/or service
  • Managing the parts inventory
  • Opening, assigning and closing scheduled work orders and creating non-scheduled work orders
  • Obtaining and reviewing contractor bids for repairs and facility projects and coordinating projects to fit the business needs and parameters, while ensuring contractor adherence to quality, scheduling and budgetary guideline standards
  • Maintaining compliance with all Federal, State, and Local laws and regulation that affect the plant operations
  • Complying fully with safety policies and practices to promote safety awareness in the DCs
  • Performing root cause analysis for any abnormal conditions/failures and taking required corrective and preventative actions to prevent recurrence
  • Benchmarking performance of each facility to identify areas and establish methods of improvement
  • Defining scope of janitorial work with business partners at each facility
  • Managing/overseeing facility waste disposal program to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Managing/overseeing the repair and maintenance of equipment, assigning work orders, and ensuring safety and production related work orders are highest priority

THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:

Qualified candidates will be high-energy and driven professionals who possess strong leadership/team building skills and demonstrated knowledge of distribution and E-Commerce operations in a retail environment. Additional requirements include:

  • The ability to lead cross-functional teams with diverse goals and responsibilities
  • Demonstrated skill in driving initiatives related to teams, projects and quality
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, to include trouble-shooting, prioritizing and multi-tasking
  • The ability to quickly learn business processes outside one’s area of expertise
  • Nimbleness, with the innovation to apply process improvement initiatives
  • Strong computer skills (specifically, MS Office, WMS Application)
  • A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but not required

Essential Functions:

  • Work rotational, 24/7 on-call to support the operation at all hours
  • Work a flexible, full-time schedule, to include days, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Travel, including overnight stays
  • Stand or sit for long periods of time
  • Accept exposure to distribution center conditions, which may include loud noises, variable temperatures, a dusty environment and strong scents related to cosmetics or fragrance
  • Visit stores to develop an understanding of the store experience and collaborate with field partners
