THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:

The Lead Product Designer is designer with extraordinary visual and user interface design skills, as well as user-centered design principals. They are a natural collaborator and an excellent communicator, able to develop and present design ideas in a large team environment. They will work closely with cross-functional teams such as Ecommerce, IT, Brand Marketing, Loyalty and third party partners. They have an affinity for consistency, color use, typography, and a keen eye for subtle details. While exercising a good eye for aesthetics, they are able to grasp and distill highly complex issues and translate them into clean, focused, understandable solutions. As a Lead team member on the team responsible for brainstorming concepts, sketching wireframes, prototyping mockups, participating in design/app critiques, refining design directions and finalizing design details. They will identify, document, and communicate design team progress, industry trends, and technical issues. Additionally, as a Lead team member, they will contribute to and help with building our vision and strategy for the Product Design Team.

  • An extraordinary online design portfolio
  • A great eye for detail, demonstrate creative and innovative problem solving
  • Ability to communicate design concepts through sketches and wireframes
  • Elevated taste level and innate ability to create unique, own design elements and experiences, with strong typography and layout hierarchy skills
  • Solid understanding of user experience and interaction design across all digital platforms–how to craft an interaction that will intuitively lead a user through a flow
  • Ability to create and continually push for a beautiful, innovative and immersive guest experience
  • Contribute to, maintain, and evolve the design system
  • Highly professional, with the ability to deliver solid work on tight schedules
  • Motivated, proactive, outgoing, and comfortable working in a loosely structured organization
  • Able to clearly communicate concepts and designs through sketches, wireframes, high fidelity comps, and prototypes
  • Experience with Augmented Reality & Artificial Intelligence
  • Perform quality assurance testing on existing and new features: QA/UAT
  • Able to function independently and in a team environment with solid collaboration skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Enthusiasm for an iterative design process, inspired by group critique
  • A fundamental understanding of and desire to use data to evolve creative direction and proven ability to turn data into insights for design
  • A passion for Ulta Beauty, its products, and its guests is a requirement

ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS: 

  • 8-10 years work experience with a focus on product design and UI across a variety of platforms including web and app (IOS & Android)
  • Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design, Media Arts or similar
  • Advanced level skill with Sketch, InVision, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Suite
  • Working knowledge of technical frameworks including jQuery, JSON, Bootstrap and technical languages including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP a plus
  • Hands-on experience with agile methodologies
  • Previous experience working in an e-commerce & financial tech environment is a plus
