Position Summary
Faculty members are responsible for establishing a robust research program, improving teaching effectiveness in Pharmacy Practice, and contributing to departmental, college, university, and professional service. The role involves developing a competitive, well-funded research program in a chosen scientific field with a focus on collaboration within the College and across the campus. Teaching responsibilities encompass both professional and graduate programs, involving lecturing, course coordination, and mentoring, with an obligation to engage in distance education and hybrid teaching models. The position also requires active participation in various forms of service, including university, administrative, student, professional, and community-related activities, with an emphasis on visibility and leadership in professional associations and scientific organizations.
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a comprehensive, independent, well-funded, sustainable research program in Pharmacy Practice, aligning with the department's objectives and contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge.
  • Define and focus the research program within a chosen scientific field, ensuring depth and expertise in the selected area to contribute significantly to the broader scientific community.
  • Proactively seek and compete for federal and other funding opportunities to sustain and expand the research program, demonstrating fiscal responsibility and strategic resource management.
  • Foster collaboration with faculty colleagues across departments and the campus, encouraging an interdisciplinary research approach that leverages diverse expertise and perspectives.
  • Share research outcomes through publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals, delivering presentations at scientific gatherings, and utilizing other suitable platforms, ensuring the dissemination of valuable knowledge to the scientific community.
  • Engage in mentorship relationships with Pharmacy Practice faculty, providing guidance and support for colleagues in developing competitive grant applications, thereby enhancing the overall success rate of securing research funding.
  • Deliver engaging and informative instruction in both professional and graduate programs, tailoring teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students at different levels of their academic and professional journeys.
  • Take on the responsibility of coordinating or co-coordinating courses based on personal expertise and departmental requirements, ensuring alignment with the curriculum and program objectives.
  • Embrace various teaching models, including distance education and hybrid formats, demonstrating flexibility to accommodate evolving educational trends. Willingly allow classroom lectures to be recorded and shared on platforms such as Blackboard to enhance accessibility.
  • Provide mentorship to doctoral and post-doctoral students, research fellows, and residents.
  • Contribute expertise to elevate the quality of teaching in Pharmacy Practice, integrating research findings into curriculum development for a dynamic and up-to-date educational experience.
  • Proactively engage in service activities to support the well-being, growth and development of the department, college, and university community, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
  • Contribute service to the university, college, and department through committee membership, leadership, and similar roles.
  • Provide administrative service, student service, and service to the public/community on behalf of Pharmacy Practice.
  • Actively engage in professional associations and scientific organizations, providing visible leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
