The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) College of Pharmacy invites applications for the position of Senior Financial Analyst with Ambulatory Pharmacy Services. This position performs essential financial functions and provides critical reporting and financial metrics to the Director of Finance, supporting the clinical budgetary and financial administration. 
This position manages reporting related to the financial oversight of 7 UI Health Outpatient (Ambulatory, AMB) Pharmacies on and around the UI Health System hospital and student campuses. Critical functions include forecasting, strategic process improvement, and revenue cycle optimization of an annual $120 million ambulatory pharmacy enterprise budget. This position is uniquely folded into college and clinical activities, such that this role interacts with data at the intersection of both environments: administrative expenses and electronic health record (EHR) data. As a state institution, this role will be responsible for regulatory compliance metrics and mission-oriented reporting. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate and coordinate with Ambulatory Pharmacy, UI Health, and University of Illinois stakeholders on financial benchmarks, trends, and activities.
  • Contribute to completion of standard financial reports; take ownership of updating financial database(s); perform ad hoc financial analyses, claims payment reconciliation and analysis support for the Ambulatory Pharmacy Services (AMB) unit within the college.
  • Assist with the creation and organizational adherence of the AMB unit with financial policies, procedures, applicable state/ federal regulatory compliance, and internal controls to remain consistent with College of Pharmacy and overall University of Illinois policies and procedures.
  • Assist with accounting and procurement activities related to Ambulatory Pharmacy (or something along these lines).
  • Promote the financial well-being of the AMB unit and its seven outpatient pharmacies and specialty units by providing specialized budget management, monitoring of appropriate cash balances, and variance reporting.
  • Leverage the patient Electronic Health Record (EPIC)/clinical financial data to assist the Director of Finance to perform and automate quantitative program work, including developing clinical revenue and cost projections; cash flow projections, performance monitoring and preparation of key performance indicator reports as required.
  • Assist in the development and management of college-wide financial models and designs. Provide the following, including but not limited to, expertise and coordination of the annual budget processes, financial analysis and reporting functions, analysis of complex data on clinical revenue and expenditures; financial planning/ forecasting for all AMB income sources and clinical finance operations of the unit.
  • Assist leadership to develop and direct a range of complex cost accounting, clinical program cost/benefit analysis and pro-forma statements for management decision making and risk evaluation for the AMB unit.
