Position Summary
The Senior Associate Director of the Institute for Policy and Civic Engagement (IPCE) serves as a senior advisor and works with IPCE's Director to achieve the Institute's goals. This position is a driving force in developing and implementing strategic direction, as well as leading and managing programs and initiatives associated with the Institute's core areas of research, education, and public discourse. Provides leadership in building and maintaining relationships with key community groups and organizations on and off campus. Administers the Institute's research projects, educational and leadership programs, public discourse, and dialogue initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Planning, Development, and Implementation

• The Senior Associate Director serves as an essential advisor to the Director for program planning, policy development and establishing organizational and procedural guidelines.
• Establishes the strategic direction for deliberative democracy opportunities related to civic learning, public policy, and democratic engagement, utilizing various dialogue methods and frameworks to enhance deliberative practices and public engagement.
• Supports the Director’s vision for organizational growth with designing and developing short and long-term goals, programs, and projects within the Institute’s core priority areas. Leads and manages initiatives and program development.
• Establishes strategic partnerships and develops working relationships with internal and external constituencies, including but not limited to faculty, civic, community, educational, governmental, or funding entities.

Program Leadership and Management

• Represents IPCE in public convenings, governmental, state and university meetings associated with the Institute’s programs and initiatives. Can serve as Director’s representative at committee meetings. During the Director’s absence can have delegated duties to make decisions regarding functioning needs.
• Provides oversight for the Institute’s infrastructure management, including but not limited to program resources, calculating staffing needs, financial analysis, and forecasting.
• Plays a leading role in the development and preparation of grant research proposals, contract agreements, special projects, and other programming support.
• Acts as a senior liaison with principal investigators and subcontractors associated with IPCE by providing technical interpretation and/or critical progress results.

Training, Education and Supervision

• Guides faculty, research staff members and graduate students regarding civic learning, public policy and democratic engagement research design, data analysis techniques and methodology strategies.
• Supervises direct reports. Guides staff members on work assignments to ensure time-sensitive challenges and objectives are met.
• Manages progress reports of multiple projects against their stated objectives, budgets, and schedules. Recommends alternatives and modifications as needed.

Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
