UIC is Hiring an Associate Director, Post-Award Management Near Chicago, IL

Position Summary:

This position supports the College of Nursing's Office of Research Facilitation which oversees the research enterprise. Has overall responsibility for providing effective post-award grant management across the College of Nursing from a range of funders including NIH, DHHS, PCORI, etc. Works with the Director of Office of Research Facilitation and the Associate Dean for Research to develop seamless and efficient support across the trajectory from grant submission to grant closure. Oversees and actively participates in post-award operations. This is a new position within the College that requires refinement and development of procedural guidelines and processes.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Creates, implements, and oversees standard operating procedures for CON researchers, business managers, and project coordinators related to all aspects of post-award support in coordination with the Department of Finance.
  • Builds and directs a team of grant managers as the need arises.
  • Identifies and provides ongoing education to ensure up-to-date knowledge of post-award management for principal/project investigators and staff.
  • Plans, assigns, and reviews work of staff to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate post-award support is provided.
  • Provides accurate guidance to investigators on budget expenditures consistent with University and funding guidelines.
  • Facilitates purchasing and procurement of grant-related needs in coordination with Finance procurement team.
  • Conducts monthly reconciliation on grant awards and oversees delivery of monthly expense reports to principal investigators on their grants.
  • Delivers end-of-study projections of expenses that support reporting requirements of funders.
  • Performs other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned by the Associate Dean for Research.
