UHS is Hiring a PARAMEDIC - EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT ( FULL TIME) Near WASHINGTON, WA

Responsibilities

GW Hospital is a 385-bed tertiary care, academic medical center located in downtown Washington, DC. Featuring a Level 1 Trauma Center and a Level 3 NICU offers clinical expertise in a variety of areas including cardiac, cancer, neurosciences, women’s health, and advanced surgery including robotic and minimally invasive surgery. GW Hospital is owned and operated by Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), a King of Prussia, PA-based company that is one of the nation's largest healthcare management companies. Primary care and specialty outpatient care are available through the Medical Faculty Associates, a multi-specialty physician practice group of more than 750 physicians covering 51 specialty and subspecialty areas. The Medical Faculty Associates' doctors have offices in the Ambulatory Care Center, an outpatient clinic building located one block from the hospital.

POSITION SUMMARY

The paramedic works in a full service Intensive Care Unit and/or Emergency room. This role assumes the responsibility for assisting with the implementation of supportive nursing care under the direction of the Registered Nurse and Medical Director. Under the direction of a health care practitioner, the Paramedic provides patient care within a defined scope of practice in accordance with the DC regulations. This includes patient care/observation, specified treatments and procedures, provision of environmental and personal safety, and effective communication. The Paramedic will also be responsible to collect pertinent data within their certification scope of responsibilities and report these clinical, psychosocial, etc., findings to the RN or Critical Care provider and charts appropriately. Works in collaboration with RNS and Providers, including Advanced Practitioners to provide patient care to patients using advanced skills and judgment. 

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education/Qualification
High School diploma or equivalency
2 years of experience as a Paramedic, with at least 6 months in a hospital setting or equivalent

Some advanced education preferred.

Current BLS and ACLS certification
Completion of an approved Paramedic program and current certification as a paramedic in the District of Columbia
Successful completion of the cognitive and psychomotor exam for the National Registry of EMTs at a Paramedic level
CPI within 6 months 
Skills
Able to speak and write English fluently
Demonstrated communication, organization and critical thinking skills
Knowledge of medical terminology
Ability to adapt to quickly evolving situations
