POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing comprehensive, direct services to adult, adolescent, and child psychiatric patients (ages ranging 3 years and up) and their families including assessment of psychiatric functioning and pharmacological interventions in and inpatient, partial hospital and outpatient setting. Responsible for providing psycho-diagnostic interviews to children, adolescents and adults, including their families. Seeks appropriate supervision and consultation with collaborating physicians to review cases and treatment. Oriented and educated in gender, cultural differences, and age appropriate care for the assigned department.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education: Master's Degreen in Nursing; Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
Experience: One-year experience working within the mental health field
Licensure/Certification: IL Nurse Practitioner License
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:
Education: Master's Degree in Nursing; Graduate from an accredited Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program
Experience: 3 years of experience working within an inpatient psychiatric hospital with children, adolescents and adults as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

-Perform psychiatric and pharmacological management evaluations on patients
-Write orders/scripts for treatment and medications
-Ability to therapeutically communicate with patients
-Ability to recognize and communicate the physical and psychological status of the patients under their care
-Order and interpret diagnostic testing

-Dictate discharge summaries
-Particpation in hospital committee meetings
-Performing vital signs on patients
-Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting; prolonged standing, walking, bending and stooping. Ability to perform visual and auditory observation of patients. Drug and alcohol free as evidenced by negative results of post-offer, pre-employment urine drug screen.
