Meridell Achievement Center (Meridell) is seeking a qualified candidate for the Program Director position working alongside our administration team.
Meridell is a 134-bed private residential treatment facility that specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents who have emotional, behavioral and neurobehavioral problems. Program Director Responsibilities:
  • Has primary responsibility for the oversight and operation of the therapeutic milieu in coordination and cooperation with other members of the clinical management team. Provides day-to-day monitoring of the operation of the milieu, including direct care staff compliance with schedules, programs, protocols, policies, procedures, and safety and treatment standards of the facility. Promotes a consistent implementation of the treatment plan through routine communication and consultation with other staff and monitoring for unsafe or counter-therapeutic practices in the milieu. Must be able to exercise some independent judgment and make critical decisions under the general direction and supervision of the Director of Nursing. Will attend all required in-service training and attend other training opportunities in the community to maintain professional competence. Serves as the facility Patient Advocate.
Qualifications
Requirements:
  • Ability to organize, coordinate, communicate, teach, and provide leadership for the assigned programs
  • Essential physical requirements: medium demand, mentally and physically; requires walking, sitting, standing, occasional bending, reaching and lifting
  • Must be able to fully participate in crisis intervention techniques with patients requiring physical restraints.
  • Education/Experience: Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent with at least four (4) years' experience providing in residential treatment, or an Associate Degree in behavioral sciences with two (2) years' experience in a residential treatment setting, with one year being in a supervisory role.or a Bachelor's Degree in behavioral sciences or a related field from an accredited college or university and one (1) year experience in the provision of direct care services in a residential treatment setting, or
  • License/Certification: Valid Class C Texas Driver's License with good driving record.
  • Skill/Knowledge: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Skills in the prevention and management of aggressive behavior and practical knowledge and understanding of the concepts and operations of a therapeutic milieu; skill in functioning as a member of an interdisciplinary team and working effectively with others; skill in the development and presentation of training materials and identification of staff training needs.
  • Essential physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions: Must be able to meet the physical demands of lifting and moving over 50 pounds; can involve long periods of walking, standing, or sitting.
