Responsibilities & Duties:

The laboratory analyst is our boots on the ground, ensuring quality sample set-up, testing, and recording accurate results for our clients.

In a laboratory environment, this position is responsible for receiving food samples, setting up required food tests per specific SOPs, reading results, and maintaining records of results. The Lab Analyst must follow established lab protocols and procedures (following ISO:17025 standards) involving sanitation and cleanliness, sample plating, inventory control, and customer service. This position works in close proximity to other Lab Analysts.

The Lab Analyst may occasionally be asked to travel to pick up samples for testing, and must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Weekend work may be required as part of the regular work schedule.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

This position prefers an associate’s degree, with preference given to a Bachelor of Science degree in one of the life sciences such as food science or microbiology. Candidates with education and/or experience in food laboratory training will be given preference. Familiarity with general microbiological principles and good laboratory practices is desirable. Education or experience with MS Office and good oral and written communication skills are desired. The selected candidate will have a demonstrated strong attention to detail, follow-through, and initiative. We will consider recent graduates and entry-level candidates with minimum requirements.

Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
