Velocity Dynamics, LLC (“Company”) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cleanwater1, Inc., a global provider of on-site hypochlorite generation equipment, polymer activation systems, chemical feed systems, and potable water mixing and treatment systems serving the water and wastewater treatment industries. The Waterjet Operator will be responsible for operation of CNC waterjet cutting machines for the purpose of manufacturing parts as designed. This will include verification of parts made to design specifications. You will also be responsible for the handling of work orders through an ERP system, monitoring and recommending adjustments to routers for accurate recordings of time expenditures. The Waterjet Operator will play a crucial role in the manufacturing process, utilizing advanced machinery to achieve precise cuts in various materials while ensuring safety and quality standards are met. This is a full-time position based at the Company’s Grain Valley, Missouri facility. The Waterjet Operator reports to the Operations Manager.
Essential Job Functions
  • Run waterjet cutting machine to precisely cut materials according to specified designs and dimensions.
  • Prepare materials for cutting, which may involve loading materials onto the cutting bed, securing them in place, and ensuring they are positioned correctly for cutting.
  • Program cutting parameters such as speed, pressure, and nozzle distance based on material type and thickness. Set up and calibrate the waterjet machine for each job.
  • Monitor the cutting process to ensure accuracy and quality of cuts. Make adjustments as necessary to maintain quality standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance on waterjet the machine, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts. Troubleshoot equipment issues and make repairs as needed.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following established safety procedures.
  • Keep accurate records of materials used, job times, and any issues encountered during the cutting process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in operating similar machinery.
  • Proficiency in operating waterjet cutting machines and related software for programming and control.
  • Knowledge of machinery mechanics and the ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Highly detail-oriented.
  • Clear and concise oral and written English language communication skills required.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and adapt quickly to time-sensitive needs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a construction or manufacturing industry.
  • Experience using Made2Manage ERP system.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, speak and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Must have manual dexterity to operate the equipment and tools required for this position.
  • Must be able to quickly respond (with the hand, finger or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.
  • Must maintain clean and professional appearance while working with customers, vendors and colleagues.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
  • Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
  • Light Industrial - May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, chemicals and industrial facilities. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions; and
  • Exposure to liquid and dry chemicals and substances associated with water and wastewater treatment, including permanganate, polymers, sodium hypochlorite, and liquid ammonium sulfate, among others.
