UFCU is Hiring a Community Outreach Mortgage Loan Officer Near Austin, TX

Job Summary

Analyzes financial needs of members and makes mortgage loan product recommendations. Creates opportunities and relationships through personal prospecting, networking, branch referrals, and other business generation activities outside office.

Essential Functions

Service Analysis:

  • Counsels members to identify the correct mortgage product for their financial and housing needs, reviews credit and Desktop Underwriting (DU) findings, requests supporting documents, and assist applicants in filling out the application packet if necessary.
  • Exhibits sales and financial analysis competency in the origination process, creating solutions and mortgage management plans for the member.
  • Actively seeks opportunities to increase loan volume and cross sell credit union products, including deposit, car refinance, student loans, home insurance, business loan opportunities and investment opportunities.
  • Exhibits strong consultative sales skills, analytic ability, knowledge of the mortgage bond market, and ability to perform and explain mathematical comparisons of the mortgage options available to the member.
  • Complies with RESPA, HMDA, and other laws and regulations.
  • Maintains knowledge of current mortgage guidelines

System and Member Documentation:

  • Utilizes a consistent follow-up program to track all phases of the loan process from start to closing including:
  • Communicate voice-to-voice loan approvals and denials to applicants.
  • Provide proper documentation and support in a timely manner, serving as a liaison between involved parties in the mortgage transactions such as REALTORS, Title Company personnel and others.
  • Attend the closing when possible.
  • Make a post-closing follow-up call to ensure member satisfaction and request referrals.
  • Provides timely and accurate information to members (responds within 24 hours) and weekly and monthly reports to management.
  • Displays a commitment to providing up-to-date and accurate information by attending a minimum of two professional seminars annually and pursuing on-going learning.

Business Development:

  • Serve as UFCU outside sales representative by actively identifying, soliciting, developing relationships with REALTORS, builders and other referral partners to increase mortgage lending business in the Hispanic communities.
  • Aids in marketing real estate services to Select Employee Groups (SEGs) to bring new mortgage loan business to UFCU.
  • Makes calls and presentations to referral partners and assigned SEG groups to promote credit union membership and mortgage origination.
  • Create appropriate outside referral sources to supplement 25% of monthly volume goals.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies designed to meet credit union and mortgage lending goals in the Hispanic community.
  • Maintain membership in industry associations such as Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber and Hispanic Professionals

Other:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Maintain strict adherence and compliance to all laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures and internal controls specific to your role.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Fluent in Spanish language and mortgage terminology in Spanish.
  • Displays strong interpersonal skills through fostering team work and demonstrating patience and respect when dealing with difficult situations.
  • Fully competent in Microsoft Office, Encompass, and other related software programs. Demonstrates the ability to use loan origination software to efficiently perform job functions.
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of the Federal and State Regulations dealing with Mortgage and Home Equity lending, required. These include but are not limited to: HMDA, RESPA, Fair Housing, ECOA, TIL, and Section 50, Article XVI of the Texas Constitution.
  • Demonstrates the ability to remain patient and respectful when dealing with difficult and/or angry members.
  • Has the ability to present ideas and thoughts in a clear, concise manner. Able to make oral presentations with persuasiveness and confidence. Uses clear and simple language to get the message across to members and co-workers.
  • Able to quickly build rapport and establish credibility with members and co-workers.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, under tight deadlines while maintaining the accuracy and integrity of loan documentation.

Experience

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of inside/outside sales experience required.
  • Must be bondable.

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of mortgage loan origination experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
