UF Health is Hiring a Manager Clinical Risk I Clinical Risk Management Near Gainesville, FL

Job Opening Summary

The primary role of the clinical risk manager is to function within a strong team-oriented environment to investigate patient safety events in order to determine why an event occurred and how it can be prevented from happening again. Patient safety events are reviewed and analyzed for trends, severity and potential reporting requirements per regulatory/accreditation standards. When appropriate, the clinical risk manager will facilitate a collaborative, systematic process to identify the root cause of an event and share all lessons learned. The clinical risk manager will also facilitate educational opportunities related to patient safety reporting for staff that are new to the organization or new to leadership roles. The clinical risk manager frequently collaborates with frontline staff and other key leaders in the organization including, but not limited to, senior leadership, physician directors of quality, departmental managers/directors, the Self-Insurance Program (SIP), Legal Services and the Quality and Patient Safety Department. The clinical risk manager routinely facilitates or is an active participant on numerous committees/teams related to quality/patient safety initiatives. The clinical risk manager utilizes strong analytical skills and attention to detail to help identify and understand hidden and complex risks.

Job Opening Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a clinical or health care-related field.
  • Minimum two years of experience in health care risk management and/or quality activities required, including knowledge of hospital policies and procedures.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and prior application of data analysis skills.
  • Must demonstrate leadership skills, including experience in communication and presentation to executive levels.
  • Consideration will be given to those with an associate's degree in a clinical discipline, along with a minimum of four years of professional, progressively responsible and specific clinical risk management work experience.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills; computer skills, including proficiency in the use of email applications, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point; knowledge of application of strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities; the ability to work under pressure; and good communication and presentation skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of applicable standards of health care risk management and hospital-wide regulatory experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local health and safety laws/rules communication and presentation skills.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:
Employees in this position will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a "non-frequent driver."
NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.

Minimum Pay Rate - Hourly: $36.42 Midpoint Pay Rate - Hourly: $49.52
