The athletic trainer (AT) will function under the direction of a physician as a vital part of a thriving Orthopedic & Sports Medicine team. The AT will perform two essential roles as a physician extender and outreach mentor. In the physician extender role, the AT will assist patient flow in the clinic by facilitating, documenting and communicating patient care-related activities, both within and related to services, along with casting and splinting as prescribed by the physician. In the outreach mentor role, the AT will provide clinical mentorship for the University of Florida (UF) graduate assistant ATs that serve the surrounding area high schools and UF RecSports. The AT will be responsible for traveling to area high schools to provide mentorship and on-site medical care for practices, events and athletic training clinic hours, including other duties, as instructed.
