UF Health Shands Hospital is Hiring an Interventional Radiology Coordinator Near Gainesville, FL

Job Opening Summary

The coordinator is responsible for ensuring the scheduling, financial review and communication process is complete for Interventional (Radiology Specials) patients. Responsible for verifying appointment date, arrival time and preps, reviewing insurance coverage and benefits, verifying that prior authorizations are obtained, and working closely with the coder and financial representative to ensure good estimates are provided to the patient and/or insurance for multiple services prior to service. Independently maintains schedules while effectively coordinating the utilization of scheduled anesthesia personnel to maximize efficency, and coordinates multiple special needs for each patient's Radiology experience to ensure successful outcomes. Participates as the key communicator in the planning, scheduling and communication process between the patient, the coder and the financial representative to produce a flawless process.

Job Opening Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent is required.
  • One year of hospital or medical practice experience required, preferably related to patient records.
  • Epic experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, basic anatomy and CPT and ICD-9 coding preferred.
  • Four-year degree may substitute for two years of hospital/medical office experience.
  • HIS and/or RMS system knowledge preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills required.
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce high quality and quantity of work are required.
  • Must be comfortable requesting information and giving information to clinics, physicians, patients and technical/clinical staff.
  • The ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, problem solve and function in a high-activity environment are necessary attributes.

Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:
Employees in this position will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a "non-frequent driver."
NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.

8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday-Friday
