The individual in the position is responsible for the administrative coordination of the Oncology Breast Programs. In collaboration with the Breast Health Center Nurse Navigator, referring physician and interdisciplinary team(s):
1) assists with the coordination of the multidisciplinary cancer conferences and subsequent specialty consultations;
2) assists the Breast Health Center Nurse Navigator in providing care as needed for patients and their families, utilizing resources efficiently and effectively. The coordinator will assist the Breast Health Center Nurse Coordinator in development and performance of specialty service educational activities, program evaluation and outcomes research. Will work with patients and insurance companies to ascertain coverage for procedures and will coordinate these referals as appropriate. Performs all duties in a manner which promotes team concept and reflects the mission and philosophy of Shands Jacksonville and the UF Shands Cancer Center.

Required Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Education:
Associate's Degree.
Necessary Skills:
Ability to assist physicians as a Medical Assistant in the clinical environment..
Effective written and verbal communication skills, including computer skills.
Insight into the roles and responsibilities of the interdisciplinary team members.
Maturity, self-confidence and interpersonal skills necessary to facilitate and coordinate a multidisciplinary team and relate effectively with patients and families from a variety of backgrounds and with varied medical needs.
Awareness and knowledge of the health care financial environment, reimbursement, levels of care, and insurance authorization process.
Knowledge of community resources.
Must be able to utilize the telephone, keep written records and be mobile to access physician offices, patient homes and the hospital.
Must have good general health and demonstrate emotional stability and flexibility.
Required Licensure/Certifications:
CPR
Required Experience:
1-2 years working in a physician environment assisting with patient care.
