The laboratory technician works closely with and receives advice from, a laboratory technologist in the performance of diagnostic procedures. Procedures are performed as efficiently and expeditiously as possible. Laboratory technicians may exercise limited independent judgment and work under the supervision of a laboratory technologist, supervisor, or director.

*Education:*
* Associate’s degree in MLS preferred.
* Certificate training program at an approved school for medical technician-level training that leads to state licensure.
*Licensure/Certification/Registration:*
* Current Florida license:
* TC - Laboratory Clinical Technician or TN – Clinical Lab Technologist
*Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required:*
* Previous laboratory experience preferred.
* Must be able to read, write in, speak and understand English.
