uda is Hiring a Lab Technician Near Tempe, AZ

When it comes to quality of our milk products, a simple sniff test is never on the table. We put all of our products through a marathon of tests to ensure its safety and quality. As a Lab Technician you'll be at the forefront of all of our product testing. You'll conduct numerous lab tests on raw materials to extract all the crucial specifications needed to pass regulatory audits with ease.
This position is for a 12-hour night shift - 6pm-6am
LAB TECHNICIAN PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform numerous tests on raw materials, in process, and final products to include: total solids, fat, titratable solids, pH, emulsion, Quality analysis, and protein testing
  • Perform antibiotic, and aflatoxin testing
  • Required to participate in and pass proficiency exams; interact with coworkers, drivers, operators, management, etc. in a respectful manner
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area at all times
  • Adhere to all SOP's and HACCP guidelines
  • Always maintain food safety and quality standards, resolving and/or reporting compliance issues immediately
LAB TECHNICIAN QUALIFICATIONS :
Skills & Abilities:
  • Possess excellent prioritizing skills
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must be able to work 12 hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Requires ability to read, hear, speak, and comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions & Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
Experience:
  • 1 year experience operating in a lab, test, or science environment preferred (coursework works too!)
  • General knowledge of dairy processing, preferred
  • Knowledge of food manufacturing practices
Education/Certifications:
  • High School Diploma or Educational Equivalent
  • Enrollment in Bachelor's degree program in field of science, preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Requires ability to walk and stand for 12 or more hours at a time.
  • Requires ability to hear, speak, and communicate effectively, in English.
  • Requires ability to safely operate equipment.
  • Requires ability to work safely within the laboratory environment.
  • Requires ability to visually observe the condition of surroundings.
  • Requires ability to stoop, bend, reach, lift and carry items up to 25lbs often.
  • Requires ability to push and pull items frequently up to 55lbs.
  • Requires ability to work safely with hazardous chemicals.
