This job opening has a $1000 sign on bonus associated with it that is paid out in two increments if you are hired.

This role is perfect for a person looking for a full time work from home position and who lives within 2 hour driving distance to in our clinic in West Des Moines, Iowa. UCS Healthcare is a CARF-accredited, non-profit health care organization based in West Des Moines, Iowa with additional offices in Knoxville and Ankeny and 11 medication units across the state offering medication assisted treatment (MAT) for opiate/alcohol addiction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical billing, with the skills necessary to ensure excellent collections of all accounts and reduce A/R days. The successful applicant will work on a number of tasks requiring problem solving skills, in-depth evaluation and exercising judgment within the appropriate scope of practice. Duties, including but are not limited to:

• Follow all Federal, State of Iowa, and agency policies and laws, including those pertaining to patient confidentiality, including HIPAA/ 42CFR part 2 and CARF requirements Implement assessments from referring agencies
• Verify any insurance coverage for clients and update the system accordingly.
• Work with insurance companies to secure any pre-authorizations required for procedures and/or work with counseling staff to secure or track any pre-authorizations for procedures.
• Run appropriate audits on all work to ensure that appropriate chart notes and pertinent data are in the system prior to billing.
• Working directly with the insurance company, providers, and patients to effectively ensure claim processing and payment from insurance and/or patient. 
• Collects delinquent accounts by establishing payment arrangements with patients; monitoring payments; following up with patients when payment lapses occur. 
• Review and appeal all unpaid and denied claims with full aptitude of the denial management processes.
• Fully understand and work the facility's accounts receivable reports as determined by Revenue Services Director.
• Answer phone calls from patients or facility that have inquiries regarding accounts.
• Maintain quality results through work operations by following policies and procedures, reporting compliance issues directly to the Revenue Services Director. 
• Must have working knowledge of payment posting and be able to ensure accuracy and compliance with contract discounts.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities. 
• Serves and protects the Group and community by adhering to professional standards, company policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements. 
• Enhances billing department and Group reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. 
• Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.

Required Knowledge, Abilities, Skills and Experience:

• Must have working knowledge of clearinghouse and practice management systems.
• Knowledge of HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer requirements and systems.
• Use of computer systems, software, 10 key calculator.
• Effective communication abilities for phone contacts with insurance payers to resolve issues.
• Customer service skills for interacting with patients regarding medical claims and payments, including communicating with patients and family members of diverse ages and backgrounds.
• Able to work in a team environment and independently.
• Problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies, denials, appeals, collections.
• Must have minimum 1-year experience in Healthcare Billing.
• Experience in establishing relationships with patients and office staff.
• Pleasant speaking voice and demeanor.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to perform in stressful situations

Preferred Knowledge, Abilities, Skills and Experience:

• Primary care and behavioral health billing experience.

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday 8-5 work from home position. Must be able to travel to Des Moines, Iowa for training and meetings.
