DescriptionIn support of the UCLA Health nursing leadership and professional practice, the clinical nurse manager serves as: Leader: The clinical nurse manager provides leadership in the professional practice setting. Scientist: The clinical nurse manager integrates evidence into practice and contributes to new knowledge and innovation. Transferor of Knowledge: The clinical nurse manager demonstrates and shares knowledge, skill, attitude, and competency that reflects an expert level of nursing practice. Practitioner: The clinical nurse manager develops, maintains, and evaluates an environment that empowers and supports the professional nurse in analysis of assessment data and in decisions to determine relevant problems, diagnoses and interventions. The Nurse Services Manager 1 (working title Clinical Nurse Manager) reports to the Nurse Services Manager 2 (Unit Director) and serves as an expert clinical leader and role model of clinical best practices. Experienced professional who provides direct clinical supervision to professional and technical employees. Spends the majority of time (50% or more) achieving clinical organizational objectives through the coordinated clinical achievements of subordinate staff. Participates in establishing clinical departmental goals and objectives. Manages the accountability and stewardship of human, financial, and often physical resources to facilitate coordinated and quality patient care in compliance with departmental and organizational goals and objectives. Functions with a high degree of autonomy and shares 24/7 management responsibility with Nurse Services Manager 2.
